Expert Solutions for Every Enthusiast

What we offer

We offer a wide variety of services, stemming from our 15+ years of service in the industry and the countless variety of jobs it has brought to our table. It is rare for us to turn down a project because we can do it. However, if we cannot, we will work with you to find someone who can or get it back to the manufacturer. We pride ourselves in our work and are looking to build a one stop place for all your shooting sports needs and more.

It is hard to describe how the price model works in this industry because it is individually based. Especially when you work in the custom smithing industry. You can basically look at it like this, the hourly rate is $90/hr. That is a base look at it. An example of this is a sight install. We charge $25 for basic sight installation. Push out, push in, prep time, and final sight alignment. That is a 10 min job. Break that down and most jobs you will see break down to equal about $90/hr. Not all jobs fit that and will come out to less, or more, this is an average and a general idea. All jobs will be discussed in detail and you will always be updated as your project moves along. You will always know what is going on and how much something will be before and after all jobs are complete.

Most jobs run between $25 and $100. Most custom jobs run in the $100+ area. All firearm transfers are $35 and that includes the background check.

Our services include basic gunsmithing, advanced gunsmithing, custom gunsmithing, firearm cleaning, laser engraving (20W Fiber MPOA)(Color Engraving on metal surfaces), powder coating, Cerakote, milling services, barrel threading, welding services, sand blast services (cabinet blasting not mobile), FFL transfers, military and LE only services (GAS, Gun Accessory Supply, dealer), and more. We are capable and we are ready to discuss your needs compared to our abilities.

We have a total of 12 distributors to access all of your parts and accessory needs. As well as firearm needs if we cannot customize something for you. We have accounts with NIC Industries and use Prismatic Powders and Cerakote for our coatings. We are not currently set up to anodize, parkerize or blue, but we can do bluing touch up.

We are in the process of creating our social media pages but currently have our Facebook page open to at least start following there. Follow for updates and notifications, and pictures, as we grow.

Inside
our world

Hello, we are Scott Lewis and Kyle Renfrow. Together we make up R&L Smithing. We both, individually, have over 15 years, professionally, in the firearm and gunsmithing industry. Having done work for names like Glock, Smith & Wesson, Remington, Weatherby, and more. We both have a passion for firearms that comes from lifelong exposure to the culture and a dedication to preserving this craft. While we both have spent most of our lives in the firearm retail market, that is not why we are here. We want to provide the best access to accessories and services that East Tennessee has to offer. Selling guns is fine, but fixing them up and making them even more amazing is where we shine.

We are a small business and starting out of Scott’s house. We are committed to doing the job we love and providing the service we love to do. We have tried to make this house a pleasing and welcoming place to walk in and visit. It is a storefront more than it is a home. Please come in, call, or email and help us grow into the one stop shop for all your firearms custom needs!
